We are excited to launch the UNiTe Initiative, which is a 5-year strategic initiative to achieve 5,000 MGSF members and raise $5,000,000 annually by 2026.

Our goal as the Mean Green Scholarship Fund is to help offset the annual cost of student-athlete scholarships in an effort to allow our athletic department to use those funds to improve the overall experience for our student-athletes in other areas such as facilities, equipment, nutrition and travel.

UNiTe Initiative: Talon Society

The Talon Society is the University of North Texas Athletics’ leadership giving society that honors donors that go above and beyond in their annual giving. Any individual whose total giving equals or surpasses $10,000 to the Mean Green Scholarship Fund in a given fiscal year is eligible for the Talon Society.

Members of the Talon Society receive exclusive membership experiences, while providing a direct and immediate impact on North Texas student-athletes.

It is critical that we provide our student-athletes with the necessary resources to compete nationally and within Conference USA. In 2020 North Texas Athletics’ expense for student-athlete scholarships reached more than $6.3 million.

2019-2020 Annual Scholarship Costs

In 2018-19, the total scholarship bill was $6,261,456, the North Texas athletic department funded $5,117,153 and the MGSF funded $1,144,303. In 2019-20, the total scholarship bill was $6,381,227, the North Texas athletic department funded $5,358,498 and the MGSF funded $1,022,729.

110% Champions

110% Champions are committed Mean Green Scholarship Fund members who increase their annual gift by at least ten percent from the previous membership year, or any new member who contributes at least $110.

Since its launch in 2018, 110% Champion donors have generously contributed additional scholarship support for North Texas student-athletes.

Maximizing Your Gift

Monthly payments are an easy and convenient way to increase your gift by allowing you to budget your donation over a period of time. Gifts to the MGSF provide life-changing educational opportunities for our student athletes through scholarships. You will also receive priority points which are utilized anytime we need to prioritize or rank our donors for benefit purposes, such as reallocating football parking and postseason game tickets or reseating a venue.

**Recurring gifts will occur continuously until the donor requests otherwise.
